The mission of the DiSBA is to promote the ecological transition of agri-food and forestry systems by contributing to the advancement of fundamental and applied knowledge and the development of innovative and sustainable solutions. This is achieved through interdisciplinary approaches that integrate the study of biological systems, the use of biotechnologies and digital technologies, bioeconomy models, and the use of advanced research infrastructures.
In line with the One Health paradigm, the goal is to define effective strategies for protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, enhancing resilience to climate change, sustainably managing natural resources and land, protecting crops, developing agricultural, forestry, and livestock systems, and producing safe, high-quality food, generating positive environmental, productive, and social impacts, as well as on human and animal health and well-being.
